If you don't take care of yourself between visits, the visits will happen more frequently, and there will be less your chiropractor can do for you as your health steadily declines.

Sustaining good health is a 24/7 job that has no breaks or holidays.

If you only think about your health when you're sick or when something hurts you're doing yourself a disservice.

Good health is more than taking painkillers and antibiotics as needed.

If you haven't stretched in a while, take some time tomorrow morning to stretch out all the stiffness and soreness that has been building up.

As soon as you're done stretching, you can add some exercise into your daily routine.

I'm not talking about getting a membership to a local gym either.

All you need to do is move. A simple walk around your neighborhood will be enough.

When you start exercising, your cardiovascular function will be improved, it'll help your weight stay in control, and it will increase your mood and energy levels.

Once you've gotten comfortable with your walk, add in some strength and endurance training into your routine to get the maximum benefit.

3. Drink Plenty Of Water

It's almost impossible to drink too much water.

If you think you've had enough water for the day, you can probably still benefit from another glass or two.

Staying hydrated is one of the absolute best things you can do for your body in general.

As you become adequately hydrated, your joints retain fluidity and elasticity.

It will also keep the padding around your spine supple and healthy.

Dehydration, on the other hand, can cause a number of adverse health risks.

One of them is causing your spinal discs to lose height and bulge or rupture. 

4. Go Outside

Couple this habit with your daily walk and you kill two birds with one stone.

Whether you do your walk outside, go for a hike, read, or play a sport, you will thank yourself later for the fresh air.

Some of the benefits of being outside are decreased anxiety, increased focus, lower fatigue, lower blood pressure and a boost in your immune system.

5. Build A Community

When people think of healthy habits, they rarely think of the community they have around them.

Your community is your circle of family and friends that you can depend on, and that depends on you.

It's been proven that those who live alone with no social interaction have shorter life spans than those who have strong social bonds.

If you lack social connections, take some time to find people who share the same interests as you.

This could mean joining a book club, a gym, and arts and crafts group, or hanging out with fans of your favorite sports team.

Building these bonds will help you live longer by making you feel like you have a place in this world; one of our basic human needs.
