What Are The Most Frequent Auto Accident Injuries?

If you are involved in an auto accident, there is a good chance you will experience one of the following injuries:

  • Herniated disc
  • Knee injury
  • Concussion
  • Whiplash

You could experience several other types of injuries in an auto accident, but these are the most common.

If you are experiencing any injury symptoms after an accident, you should seek chiropractic treatment as soon as possible.

The auto injury that claims the most victims after a car accident is likely whiplash.

Whiplash is a soft tissue injury that occurs when your neck is jerked forward and then backward suddenly and violently.

Whiplash doesn't always present immediate symptoms, which is why many people don't seek treatment afterward.

If you have been in an accident, keep an eye out for the following symptoms in the hours and days after the accident to be sure you haven't suffered a whiplash injury:

  • Blurry vision
  • Headaches
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Shoulder pain and stiffness
  • Limited range of motion
  • Tenderness in the neck, shoulders, and back
  • Numbness or tingling in the upper arms and shoulders
  • Irritability

When Do I Need to Visit the Chiropractor?

It's never a bad idea to see an accident chiropractor after an accident, but some people have more reasons to visit than others.

Critical injuries will be taken care of at the scene of the accident, and you will be transported to a hospital to treat them.

But the people that have survived the accident seemingly injury-free may begin to experience symptoms like muscle aches, headaches, and body aches in the days following the accident.

These are the people who would have benefited the most with a visit to an accident chiropractor soon after their accident.

Even though they didn't have any symptoms at the time, their accident chiropractor would have been able to diagnose hidden injuries and begin treatments, like a chiropractic adjustment, right away.

That's why it's essential for everyone involved in an accident to make an appointment with an Atlanta chiropractor as soon as possible.

Why You Should Get Chiropractic Care Before You Do Anything Else

When you seek medical care from a chiropractor after your accident, you are accomplishing a few things.

First, you will understand the injuries you may have suffered, and then you will be able to receive treatment for your injuries right away so you can begin your recovery.

If you did sustain an auto accident injury, you will obtain information that will help you with a personal injury claim.

Your chiropractor will also provide you with all the necessary documentation you need that will help you prove that you sustained injuries in your accident.

And most chiropractors will be able to refer you to an experienced personal injury attorney that can help with your personal injury claim.

With over 40 years of experience, Arrowhead Clinic of Atlanta will help you recover physically and financially.

Delaying Your Medical Treatment Can Hurt Your Car Accident Claim

Delaying your medical treatment can harm you financially as much as it harms you physically.

When you don't seek immediate medical attention after your accident, your insurance company may try to say your injuries aren't severe, or they were caused by something other than the accident.

And delaying medical treatment can take minor issues and turn them into chronic pain that you will be on the hook for financially.

Your insurance adjuster will do all they can to find a reason to deny your claim or at least reduce your settlement amount.

If there's a gap between your accident and when you visited a chiropractor, they will use that gap against you.

Without proper documentation from a medical expert after your accident, it will be much harder to win your personal injury claim.

You have to prove a connection between your accident and your injuries, and without documentation, this is hard to do.
