What to Expect During Your First Visit to the Clinic
In preparation for the chiropractic consultation, you will be asked to fill out forms that provide background information about your current condition, medical history, and symptoms.
The types of questions include:
- When and how did the pain start?
- Where is it located?
- Describe the pain - is it sharp, dull, burning, or throbbing? Does it come and go, or is it continual?
- Did the pain start as a result of an injury?
- What activities/circumstances makes it better or worse?
The Exam with our local Chiropractor
Once we know a little bit about your history, the doctor will conduct a thorough chiropractic exam that includes general tests such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and reflexes, as well as specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess:
- Range of motion of the affected part
- Muscle tone
- Muscle strength
- Neurological integrity
- Posture Analysis
Diagnostic Studies
Based on the results of your medical history and chiropractic exam, diagnostic studies are helpful in identifying structural abnormalities to more accurately diagnose your condition and provide compelling evidence why and where you need Chiropractic treatment after a Car Accident.
The most common diagnostic studies during your chiropractic exam include:
- X-ray exam
- Other laboratory tests if necessary and potential outside referral for an MRI
Goals and Report of Findings
Our Chiropractor will establish specific goals based on the X-ray and Exam Findings for your individualized plan of care:
- Short-term goals will include reducing pain and restoring normal joint function and muscle balance
- Long-term goals are about regaining functional independence and tolerance to normal activities of daily living.
